Victor Frankenstein is the main protagonist in the early 19th century Gothic horror novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.The story revolves around two characters:the mad scientist Frankenstein who attains an avid interest in natural sciences,and an unnamed monster of Frankenstein's creation(most often referred to as "Frankenstein's Monster").Victor Frankenstein is born in Geneva to a wealthy family.After witnessing a lightning bolt strike a tree,he develops a fascination with the natural world.While studying at a university in Germany,Frankenstein dedicates himself to the science classes as well as his secret experimentation of reviving the dead beings.Eventually,Frankenstein pieces together a humanoid creature from the body parts he gathered from the graveyard and applies electricity to it.To his surprise,the creature becomes alive(he famously shouts "it's alive!"in awe).Terrified of the monster's horrendous looks,Frankenstein does nothing top prevent the creature from escaping.As we eventually learns,however,the monster does have human feelings and intellect.He observes other humans from afar and learns their language,but cannot approach them as his looks are too abnormal.Eventually,the feeling of isolation sets in for the monster,who subsequently kills Frankenstein's family members to compel Frankenstein to make a female monster.Frankenstein tries but fails,which leads to the climax of the story- the monster breaks into Frankenstein's house at Frankenstein's wedding and kills the bride.Angry and in shock,Frankenstein swears to hunt down and kill the monster of his creation.An explorer named Captain Walton then sights Frankenstein and his monster in North Pole.
